Phase 3(including 6th form)
Phase 3
In this phase we prepare our students for their next steps once they leave school.
With this in mind, the curriculum is outward looking, involving life skills opportunities, work placements and off site courses. Students are encouraged to develop their life skills in a number of different ways.
All pupils have a personalised learning programme (PLP) tailored to their individual ability. This typically involves basic skills, life skills, PSHE, creative arts, sports and leisure, enterprise, and employability.
Planning for this phase starts in year 9, where a person centred planning meeting helps to identify priorities for the pupil.
6th Form
The 6th Form curriculum focuses on the four areas of Preparing for Adulthood. These are:
1. Employability & Transition
2. Independent Living
3. Good Health & Wellbeing
4. Relationships & Community
Students in the 6th Form follow a pathway model. We have three pathways, with a different curriculum offer in each. These are:
•Sensory Pathway
•Semi-Independent Pathway
•Independent Pathway
We use our knowledge of each student alongside what they and their families are able to tell us about their hopes and wishes for the future to decide which pathway will suit them best.
Here are some of the opportunities that are available in each pathway:
Sensory Pathway
•Theme-based sensory learning and communication work
•Community trips
•Independent living skills programme either in school or using the 6th Form life-skills flat

•Rolling programme of creative and wellbeing activities
