Neurodiversity services -Support Events

We would like to invite parents of children and young people with neurodiverse needs to join us in a series of virtual discussion sessions.

About this event:

Neurodiversity services support children and young people with support needs for autism, ADHD, learning disability, sensory process disorder, cerebral palsy, Downs Syndrome and much more.

As a system, Hull and East Riding health and care partners have recognised they need to change and improve how children and their families access and receive support, and how services are provided. Following feedback received from children and young people and their parents, a series of service reviews and events were undertaken in 2019. These events produced an evaluation report in 2020 with an agreed vision, values and overarching service model for local services that support neurodiversity.

We would like to invite parents of children and young people with neurodiverse needs to join us in a series of virtual joint Hull and East Riding focused discussion sessions. We want parents to co-produce the development of the new approach for the delivery of the Hull and East Riding Children’s Neurodiversity Service.

Please note session zoom links will only be sent to people who have signed up using the links above the day before

Get involved in the development of the Mental Health Support Team service

Tweendykes Special School has been selected to be involved in a pilot NHS programme which will see mental health practitioners deliver support to our students, teachers and parents/carers.

The Mental Health Support Team can provide 1:1 low intensity sessions, group sessions for students as well as training for staff and parents and carers.

As this is a pilot, NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), who are commissioning the service, are looking for parents and carers to get involved and give their views on how the service should look and work, to ensure they tailor it, wherever possible, to suit the needs of the children and young people in Hull. This includes giving your views on what support is required and how people would like to access the service.

You may have previously completed an online workbook which was the first stage of engagement around this service, and Hull CCG are now pleased to invite you to a virtual workshop where you can discuss your thoughts on the service moving forward. They would also like to invite parents and carers to remain involved in the continued development of the service moving forward.

Full details and sign up is available online here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/156514459963 or you can email Hullccg.schoollinks@nhs.net for more information.

Red Nose Day 2021

We will be taking part in red nose day and raising money for comic relief on Friday 19th March. The theme this year is superheroes. It would be great if your child could dress up as their favourite superhero for a donation of £1. We will also be taking part in other fundraising activities throughout the day including throwing wet sponges at Mr Fenner for a small donation!

If you would like any further information please contact your child’s class teacher.

British Science Week

Please find the activity packs here

https://www.britishscienceweek.org/plan-your-activities/activity-packs/

Lots of lovely activities for school and home learning,.

They are also having a 'design a poster' competition. It would be really lovely if some of the phase 2 pupils could enter, they have some lovely prizes and would support our artsmark journey.

Autism Accreditation

As part of the Autism Accreditation assessment, we carry out a survey for autistic people and their families, to feedback on the provision being assessed.

Families of Autistic People

https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/TweendykesSchoolFamilies/

This is intended for the family member/carer who represents the interests of the autistic person to complete.

Autistic People

https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/TweendykesSchoolAutisticPersons/

This is intended for any autistic adult or young person over the age of 16, who attends your provision. It can be completed by the autistic person or with support. Where possible the person who helps the autistic person to complete the questionnaire should be independent from the provision being assessed.

Merry Christmas

Joyeux Noël tout le monde (Merry Christmas everyone)!

Thank you everyone for making Tweendykes such a joyous place on the run up to Christmas!

There have been classroom parties, Christmas dinner, class performances, virtual Christmas Carol singalongs, Christmas class challenges, live-streamed pantomimes, giant-sized Christmas cards sent between classes,... even our own advent calendar!

I wish you all a wonderful time this festive period and look forward to seeing everyone in 2021!

All the best,

Pierre
