Visual support

Visual support is heavily embedded in whole-school practice. A suite of tried-and-tested resources, including now and next cards, in-session strips and visual timetables support pupils to have a greater understanding of what is expected of them. Regular staff training and monitoring ensures that visual support is used consistently.

Structured work

The principles of TEACCH help underpin how work is presented to pupils. By using this approach, alongside careful differentiation and a developmentally appropriate curriculum pupils engage well with their learning and have a clear understanding of the work they are completing.

Sensory support

Pupils’ sensory needs are taken into consideration and planned for across the school. Initial work form class teams to identify and cater for pupils’ sensory needs is carefully monitored by close liaison with the school’s sensory integration therapist.
