Parent Coffee Morning

On Friday 27th November, the first parent drop in/coffee morning took place in the school meeting room. Emma Clark, Parent Governor, sent out invitations to a selection of parents inviting them along any time between 9am and midday, where they could expect to meet other parents to chat and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea , along with some home baking.

“ We deliberately started on a small scale for the first one, to see how the room would work and for me to get used to making the hot drinks, but now that I have seen how it could work, we would love more parents/carers to come along…the more the merrier” Emma continued “The plan is to try to replace the ‘school gates’ experience that we parents mainly miss out on, when you can share stories and make new friends, with your children in common. Last Friday, fourteen parents came along and they came from across the school and we were able to offer each other support over a cup of coffee and a chocolate brownie!”

The plan is that these parent events will take place every other Friday morning, so the next one will be on Friday 11th December and all parents/carers are welcome and we can accommodate pre-school children too.  There is no need to RSVP or stay for the full three hours, the idea of a drop in is that you can just call in whenever you like and for as long as you like: “ With my own son, I know how quickly plans can change, and so I wanted to make sure that it was as flexible as possible, so that parents still feel able to come along, even if they are not ready until 10.30 for example”

It is hoped that this will become a regular and popular event, that will grow in 2016, so please come along on Friday 11th of December, from 9am.
